ROMANIA
this gallery is in preparation ...
here is a preview ... romania is a country in
south-eastern europe, east of hungary and north of
bulgaria, bordering on the black sea. about 2000 years ago
the kingdom dacia florished, which soon became part of the
roman empire. modern romania is independent since the fall
of the soviet union in 1989.
since 1862, the capital is bucharest, the by far largest
city in romania. it is full of imposing buildings - its
eclectic architecture includes traditional, classical and
neo-classical, 'communist' and modern styles, even some
art deco. the palace of the parliament is europe's largest
building, a somewhat absurd outcome of the communist era.
because of the countless cafes and restaurants and pubs,
for a while bucharest was nicknamed "little paris". in
this preview,
only one segment is presented: beside the famous national
theatre, named "caragiale" (currently in renovation) is a
little park full of amazing modern sculptures which were
created by ioan bolborea in 2010 and are devoted to
romania’s favourite playwright, ion luca caragiale, and
his main characters. some of these very dynamic figures
are shown below.
