this gallery is in preparation ... here is a preview ... norway is a scandinavian nation, stretching far north to europe's north cape, and it includes the svalbard islands near the north pole. best known of the stunning landscapes in this country are the fjords. norway was home to the vikings, which from 870 onwards explored the northern ocean and established settlements in iceland, greenland and 'vinland' in north america. ship lines have florished ever since in norway. originally, trondheim and then bergen were the principal towns and trade centers, yet in 1299 oslo became norway's capital. below are some pictures from oslo and the province telemark, including the capital's city hall, sculptures by vigeland, an old wooden 'stavkirk', amundsen's ship 'gjoea' and munch's famous painting "the scream".
