LAKE - VIERWALDSTAETTERSEE

the "vierwaldstaettersee" is switzerland's most famous lake (it was here where the swiss confederation was founded) ... it actually consists of six parts (see the little map which looks southwards), each of which offers striking sights ... many towns and villages adorn the lake's long shores, and at the western end sits beautiful luzern ... a fleet of quite majestic paddle steamers cruises between the main places ... two mountains overlooking the lake, the rigi in the north and the pilatus in the west, can be reached by mountain trains and offer spectacular views (well, if they are out of the clouds!)
