TETIAROA

from moorea one can fly with a little airplane to tetiaroa, an atoll, 50 km north of tahiti. one of its islands, onetahi, was acquired in 1962 by marlon brando, who used it as his private locality, yet also got a small airstrip established and over time added facilities for visitors and vacations, based on ecological considerations.

Airplane

the landscape of tetiaroa is exceptionally beautiful.

Island

above all, this so very peaceful atoll is the home of millions of birds.

Tahiti palm trees

fortunately it was easy to observe and quasi 'visit' them, because they don't (yet?) fear humans.

even "babies" stayed quietly in their nest when they noticed such a big strange being...

Tetiaroa view

to sum up, tetiaroa was a great finale of my special voyage to tahiti.
