ADVENT YEMEN

yemen has a long and rather wild history. over thousands of years it was either independent or ruled by external kingdoms, then islamic sovereigns,  and finally the ottoman empire. in the south, the british empire (based in aden) was dominant. after worldwar-2 yemen was near to independence. 1962 there were two states set up, north yemen and south yemen, reflecting long-lasting cultural differences. they kind-of merged in 1990. the core city of yemen was always sanaa, which has been inhabited for 2500 years. central sanaa is a world heritage area, full of amazing architecture, which is undoubtedly unique ...

here is a brief preview, presenting some of the many features of this country, such as historic buildings, markets, specialty shops; it also shows some people, including the two escorts of my trip to marib, and an old man reading the koran.
